Bringing Brigadeiro to America. By plane.

Legend says that the popular Brazilian bonbon, was named after Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes. An air marshal and politician of the early days in Brazil. Nobody has much idea why. So you just gonna have to trust the popular word on this!
But nevertheless, it's yummy, ease, and very popular in Brazil.  And it's gaining popularity over here in America quiet fast. At least on my surroundings...  Try this and see for yourself why!
Here is brigadeiro on Wiki.

Ingredients:
1 can of sweet condensed milk
2 TBS of butter
3 to 4 TBS of semi-sweet good quality cocoa powder.

How to:

In a saucepan, pour the condensed milk, the butter and the cocoa.
Stir all of the ingredients and bring it to a low heat stirring slowly.
As it starts to boil, increase the stirring speed and keep stirring until it's not sticking to the
pan. It takes about 3 min after it starts boiling. But you will have to make your own judgment of that...

Turn off the heat and pour the brigadeiro over a plate or parchment paper to cool down.
When it's completely cooled, roll it into bonbons. Roll the bonbons over chopped nuts, sprinkles, coconut or whatever you like.
This makes very good alternative to the same old box of chocolates on V-day.
It's home made and very delicious.  When I make these, I hardly get to roll them into bonbons. I eat it right off the plate!

Happy Xoxoxoxo day!!!

Baking essentials...

You might say that I'm going vain! But one thing you must agree with me is, that when you surround
yourself with pretty things, you will be inspired to make pretty things.

Feeling pretty is within. The outside reflects what you feel inside!
Anthropology makes these beautiful aprons. It will make you sing like Julie Andrews "I feel pretty. Oh so pretty..." all day.  "I feel pretty video"

In another note, I will be out with a recipe very shortly. I promise! I'm in the process of moving and my whole kitchen is packed up. Be back soon with some great recipes from my new kitchen.
:) Happy Friday!

Baking essentials...

Hi there!
I wanted to  create a section that will showcase new and useful gadgets and products to have in the kitchen. Other than pots, pans, utensils, and etc...
We must always have: flour, sugar, brown sugar, confectioner's sugar, yeast, baking powder/soda, good vanilla extract, a zester,  butter, milk and eggs.
Those are the basic ingredients for many baking needs. but if you do a lot of baking and already have those, you may move on to having: variation of flours, of extracts, food coloring,  specialty baking pans, and so on...

I will post a new find and must have regularly. So keep posted and here is a small but adorable find.

Matryoshka cup measuring and  babushka pepper grinder!

You can find both items at www.urbanoutfitters.com

I don't know how you can have a kitchen without these!

1 Year of the Baking Sake blog.

One year has passed since my first post. I know that I haven't really been committed to posting on the regular, but I've done pretty well for my first year!
And for my new year resolution, I promise to post more frequently.
Now here are some of my favorites posts this year:

My first post of course. It took me some time to get this one right and I'm proud I got it.  French Macarons
